Twelve Bay Area Health Officers to Lift Most Indoor Mask Mandates on February 16

In alignment with the State, the Bay Area counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, and the City of Berkeley will lift universal mask requirements for most indoor public settings beginning Wednesday, February 16. Unvaccinated individuals over age 2 will continue to be required to wear masks in all indoor public settings. Businesses, venue operators and hosts may determine their own paths forward to protect staff and patrons and may choose to require all patrons to wear masks. Read full story

County to leasefacilities at Los Guilicos Campus to CAL FIRE asyear-round fire base

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today authorized a three-year lease agreement with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) for use of facilities at the Los Guilicos Campus for a year-round fire base. The lease will support the County’s fire prevention and response needs, support the Board’s Strategic Resilient Infrastructure pillar and make use of unused and underutilized space at the Los Guilicos campus located at 538 Eliza Way in Santa Rosa. The presence of CAL FIRE personnel and equipment in the Los Guilicos area will significantly improve response times and resources in the event of wildfire or other emergencies. Read full story

According to County Clerk Deva Marie Proto, candidates interested in running for any of the 29 positions whose terms expire this year must file nomination papers between February 14 and March 11 in order to have their names placed on the June 7 ballot. If nomination papers for an incumbent elective officer of the district are not filed by 5 p.m. on March 11, candidates other than the incumbent have until 5 p.m. on March 16 to file for such elective office.</span> Read full story
