Sonoma County Health Officer extends heat advisory through Friday

In response to the National Weather Service’s extension of the Excessive Heat Warning for the North Bay interior mountains and a Heat Advisory for the North Bay interior valleys, Sonoma County Health Officer Dr. Tanya Phares has extended the countywide Heat Advisory in place since Tuesday, July 2 to Friday, July 12. Sonoma County opens $27 million pilot program to improve local mental health services for foster youth

A three-year pilot program that will provide intensive mental health treatment to foster youth in crisis opened today at Valley of the Moon Children’s Center. This program provides the County with a major new resource that will reduce the number of local foster youth who are sent out of Sonoma County for placement in residential treatment programs. Board of Supervisors approves $1.8 million to fund Helen Putnam Regional Park expansion

Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024-2025 County Fund for Housing (CFH) and Permanent Local Housing Allocation (PLHA), and FY 2021-2022 HOME-American Rescue Plan (HOME-ARP)

The Sonoma County Community Development Commission (Commission) will be accepting funding applications from eligible applicants for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 County Fund for Housing (CFH) and Permanent Local Housing Allocation (PLHA) and Fiscal Year 2021-2022 HOME – American Rescue Plan (HOME-ARP). These funds are available for eligible affordable housing projects, and the eligibility requirements differ based on the applicable funding source. All prospective applicants are required to attend a mandatory technical assistance workshop in order to apply. In response to the National Weather Service’s extension of the Excessive Heat Warning for much of the county, Sonoma County Health Officer Dr. Tanya Phares has extended the countywide Heat Advisory that began Tuesday, July 2 to Tuesday, July 9. Sonoma County opens cooling centers for high heat warning this week

Cooling centers, where residents can escape the heat, will be available at several locations in Sonoma County beginning Tuesday as the Sonoma County Department of Emergency Management activates its extreme temperature response. The National Weather Service has issued a High Heat Warning as temperatures will reach triple digits in some parts of Sonoma County for six consecutive days beginning Tuesday at 11 a.m. Read full story
