Standard deadline to register to vote in March Presidential Primary Election is February 20
The standard deadline to register to vote in the upcoming March 5, Presidential Primary Election, is February 20, Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Deva Marie Proto reminded residents. However, eligible voters who miss this deadline still have the option to “conditionally register and vote” in person through Election Day at the Registrar of Voters office or any vote center. Public Hearing Notice – Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) - February 8 through March 11, 2024
A draft of the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) assessment, formerly known as the Assessment of Fair Housing, for the participating jurisdiction of Sonoma County is now available for public review. Community input sought on governance solutions report at Lower Russian River Municipal Advisory Council meeting on February 8
Supervisor Lynda Hopkins and the Lower Russian River Municipal Advisory Council will discuss the Governance Solutions Report at its February 8 meeting. Sonoma County staff outline ongoing efforts to fill vacancies in county workforce
The vacancy rate in the County of Sonoma’s workforce declined to 11.5 percent in January, down from 12.3 percent at the end of 2022, according to a new report presented today to the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. Read full story

Sonoma County to provide $1 million in vegetation management grants to reduce wildfire risk
Sonoma County is now accepting applications for $1 million in grants to fund projects that protect residents from wildfires by creating fuel breaks, expanding defensible space around homes, and removing vegetation along evacuation routes in fire-prone landscapes. Read full story

Historical Wohler Road Bridge over the Russian River to get seismic upgrade beginning Summer 2024
The Board of Supervisors today awarded an $18 million construction contract for the seismic retrofit of the historical Wohler Road Bridge over the Russian River, located 10 miles northwest of Santa Rosa. The existing seismically deficient one-lane bridge, which was completed in 1922, will receive a new lightweight concrete deck, seismic isolation bearings and joints, steel truss reinforcement and foundation reinforcement designed to meet current seismic design standards for bridges.
