Agenda Item of Interest: April 11 JPA for the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency
The Sonoma County Waste Management Agency, a governmentagency which handles green waste and wood waste composting, household hazardouswaste collection and disposal, solid waste education, and solid waste planning,is set to expire on February 11, 2018. An agreement to continue theprograms of this agency has been drafted and must be approved by all members,including the County of Sonoma, to become effective. The recommendedaction by the Board of Supervisors is to approve and authorize the Chair toexecute the proposed Amended and Restated Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement(JPA) for the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency. Discrimination and Bullying in Our Schools — A Report and Recommendations
The Commission on Human Rights released a report on School Climate in Sonoma County. The report was based on an analysis of countywide district data on Uniform Complaints filed with the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights, related to discrimination and harassment. The Commission submitted a list of recommendations to the Sonoma County Office of Education as a result of their findings. Read full story
