Sonoma County Building & Fire Code Updates
The new building and fire codes became effective on January 1, 2023. Permit applications received before December 31, 2022 are not required to meet the new codes, and will instead be reviewed and permitted according to the 2019 codes. Read full story

The Sonoma County Environmental Health Department, Solid Waste Management Program, acting as the Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) is certified by the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) to enforce state laws and regulations at solid waste sites within its jurisdiction. The Sonoma Transfer Station operates under a Solid Waste Facility Permit issued by the LEA. The operator has filed an application for a Report of Facility Information (RFI) amendment with the LEA. The RFI describes the design and operation of the facility. Read full story

At the March 14th Board of Supervisors meeting, our Board approved an ordinance to prohibit new retail fuel stations and prohibit expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure for existing retail fuel stations. This follows in the footsteps of several other jurisdictions in Sonoma County, including Petaluma and Sebastopol, and has been a priority for myself and Supervisor Hopkins (in our work on the Board's Climate Ad Hoc) for some time.
