District Attorney Ravitch Issues Notice: Looters and Price Gougers Will Be Prosecuted
DistrictAttorney Jill Ravitch today issued a warning to anyone targeting those affectedby the recent flooding in Sonoma County, “California law protects peopleimpacted by a state of emergency. Looting is theft, which is alwaysagainst the law. However, during a time of emergency additional legalprotections exist against price gouging on gas, food, housing, and otheressential supplies. I encourage anyone who has been the victim of pricegouging, or who has information regarding potential price gouging, toimmediately file a complaint by contacting local law enforcement or myoffice. Be advised that any looting or price gouging related to thisweek’s flooding will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” Read full story

El último reporte del Centro de Pronósticos de Ríos de California y Nevada indica que el río Russian alcanzará niveles de inundación a los 32 pies esta noche a las 7 y se prevé que alcance su nivel más crítico de desbordamiento, a las 10 de la noche mañana, 27 de febrero. Se espera que el nivel del río regrese a niveles normales, bajo 32 pies, el jueves 28 de febrero, a las 10 de la noche. En respuesta la Oficina del Alguacil del Condado de Sonoma emitió órdenes de evacuación a los residentes que viven cerca del rio Russian usando el sistema de Alertas Inalámbricas de Emergencia (WEA), SoCoAlert y otros métodos de alerta como las redes sociales.
