Charles M. Schulz — Sonoma County Airport celebrates completion of $40 million modernized air terminal
County, state and federal representatives joined officials from the Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport today to celebrate the completion of the final phase of the $40 million air terminal modernization project. The final segment features a renovated front entrance of the terminal, which has been transformed by glass paneling. Bronze statues of Charlie Brown and Linus have also returned to the front of the terminal to welcome travelers. Read full story

Sonoma County issues Health Advisory for Tough Mudder race participants
The County of Sonoma Department of Health Services has issued a Health Advisory concerning multiple reports of participants in a Tough Mudder race at Sonoma Raceway on Aug. 19 and 20 having developed rash with fever, muscle pain, or nausea/vomiting occurring about 24 hours after the event. Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approves temporary moratorium on mobile home park rent increases
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today unanimously approved a temporary moratorium on rent increases in mobile home parks in unincorporated areas. The urgency ordinance took effect immediately and will remain in place until the board amends the existing regulations or until Feb. 29, 2024, whichever occurs first. The moratorium does not apply to mobile home parks within the county’s nine cities. Read full story

Sonoma County to host overdose awareness event August 31
Sonoma County Department of Health Services is inviting the public to attend an Aug. 31 event to raise awareness about the dangers of overdosing from substances. The public event, which will include food and demonstrations of overdose prevention tools, is scheduled for International Overdose Awareness Day. Read full story

Windsor Man Sentenced for Sexual Assault of Family Members
Defendant Matthew Moffat, 53 years old of Windsor, was sentenced today by the Honorable Karlene Navarro to serve 24 years plus 750 years to life in prison following his December 2022 conviction by a Sonoma County jury of multiple counts of sexual assault against minors. Read full story

Santa Rosa Man Convicted of Attempted Second Degree Murder Sentenced to Serve Nine Years in State Prison
Defendant Vincent Cervantes, 29-years-old of Santa Rosa, was sentenced earlier today by the Honorable Troye Shaffer to serve nine years in state prison after pleading “no contest” in July of this year to charges of attempted second degree murder and assault with a semi-automatic firearm.
