Sonoma County opens Emergency Operations Center in response to storms and possible flooding; issues public safety advisory

Sonoma County Administrator Sheryl Bratton has issued an emergency proclamation authorizing activation of the county’s Emergency Operations Center today to monitor and respond as needed to three major storms expected through Wednesday, Jan. 11. Local emergency and weather officials are advising Sonoma County residents to avoid unnecessary travel and prepare for high winds, flash flooding, downed trees and the potential for power outages throughout the region, as well as the potential for landslides or debris flows in burn scar areas. Sonoma County issues evacuation warning for low-lying areas along the Russian River

Sonoma County emergency officials issued an evacuation warning today for residents of low-lying areas along the lower Russian River, urging people to prepare to leave in anticipation of the river reaching flood levels of 33 feet on Thursday night and 40 feet early Sunday morning. Read full story

Maria Christina Rivera named as new County Administrator for County of Sonoma

Assistant County Administrator Maria Christina Rivera has been named County Administrator, succeeding Sheryl Bratton who will be stepping down at the end of the month, Sonoma County officials announced today. Permit Sonoma announced today that it has published the draft Environmental Impact Report for the most recent version of Sonoma County General Plan’s Housing Element. PG&E MAKES FIRST ANNUAL PAYMENTS REQUIRED BY KINCADE FIRE JUDGMENT

Sonoma County District Attorney Jill Ravitch announced today that Pacific Gas & Electric Company (“PG&E”) has made the first of five annual payments to several local nonprofit organizations serving members of the community impacted by wildfires. The payments were mandated by the stipulated judgment that resolved criminal and civil charges against PG&E related to causing the 2019 Kincade Fire. Read full story

Roseland COVID-19 vaccination clinic reopens after temporary closure due to water damage

The Roseland Community Clinic in southwest Santa Rosa reopened today after a temporary closure due to water damage. The clinic was temporarily closed on Dec. 16 to repair water damage caused by the activation of a fire sprinkler system in an adjacent building. It reopened as an onsite outdoor clinic on Dec. 20 and resumed indoor operations today. Read full story
