Liz Cruz Reyes

Liz Cruz (pronouns ella/she/they) lives on the indigenous land of the Southern Pomo and Coast Miwok people. Liz is a first-generation college graduate and obtained their Bachelor of Arts from California State University of Monterey Bay. Liz majored in Liberal Studies (Elementary Education) and minored in Visual Performing Arts and History. Liz has held various positions to support the community through government, non-profit and grassroots oriented work.

Liz is currently the Membership Engagement Manager with Girl Scouts of Northern California. She helps Girl Scout volunteers and community engagement in Sonoma, Lake and Napa counties.

Liz has been passionate about advocating for human rights since she was a teenager. She was part of the first cohort of the Sonoma County Junior Commission on Human Rights. As a Junior Commissioner, they participated in an “Anti-Slut Shaming” Adhoc and as a conference panelist in SF. After graduating college, Liz began volunteering as a mentor with the Junior Commission in 2022 and is now the Youth Commission Project Manager. Liz is also part of the Visibility Project ad hoc, the LGBTQ+ Adult Prom and is an Officer-at-Large with the Commission on Human Rights.

 Liz is passionate about decolonization, equity, liberation, and cultural re-empowerment. They enjoy working with others to generate positive and sustainable social change. Liz’s hobbies include watching movies, going to the beach, and hanging out with their family. Liz looks forward to her role as Human Rights Commissioner for District 3.
