New Employee Orientation
All new County employees should attend a New Employee Orientation (NEO) either with their department or a general enrollment class presented at the Workforce Development Center within 30 days of their start of employment. Orientation will provide useful information to new employees as they navigate the often times confusing on-boarding process. Topics covered will include the following areas:
- WELCOME TO THE COUNTY
- PENSION BENEFITS
- DEFERRED COMPENSATION
- DISCRIMINATION & HARASSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE
- SEIU
- ENERGY & SUSTAINABILITY
- PURCHASING OVERVIEW
- WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT - Planning for (Your) Success
- HEALTH & SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE
- EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
- EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Additionally, the NEO contains content that is mandated by the Board of Supervisors and other entities such as Cal-OSHA (Workplace Safety) and the Department of Homeland Security (NIMS).
