What is the difference between Medi-Cal and Covered California?
- Medi-Cal offers low-cost or free health coverage to eligible California residents with limited income.
- Covered California is the state’s health insurance marketplace where Californians can shop for health plans and access financial help if they qualify for it.
Health plans available through Medi-Cal and Covered California both offer a similar set of important benefits, called essential health benefits. You can apply for both programs at the same time when you use our single application.

How do I request to replace a lost, damaged or stolen Medi-Cal or CMSP card?
Report the lost, stolen or damaged card as soon you can:

- By phone: (877) 699-6868. A new card will be mailed to you

You can receive a temporary card, if needed, and a permanent card will be mailed to you.

How do I transfer my Medi-Cal benefits to or from another county?
Contact Economic Assistance, or the county you are moving to or from, and ask for an inter-county transfer.
You shouldn’t need to reapply in your new county.
Does being pregnant change my eligibility for Medi-Cal?
If Medi-Cal eligible, you receive the full-breadth of medical coverage through your pregnancy and the twelve months following.
What Covered California insurance plans can I get in Sonoma county?
