Supervisors approve Sonoma Valley service hub plans
SANTA ROSA, CA | June 06, 2023
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today approved plans to lease an office in Sonoma Valley for a future hub for county services, bringing important economic assistance, child support and health services to an underserved community.
The planned Sonoma Valley hub is part of a broader initiative to establish regional service centers in remote parts of Sonoma County with access to transportation systems to provide more equitable public access to services.
“Because of distance and traffic congestion, residents of Sonoma Valley are often not able to travel to a central location to access critical services, so we are bringing these services to them,” said Supervisor Susan Gorin, who represents Sonoma Valley. “This board has prioritized the establishment of neighborhood-based services sites, and I am proud to see the Sonoma Valley hub moving forward.”
The lease, which must be formally approved by the board in July, is for office space at 19080 Lomita Ave., Sonoma. County departments of Health Services, Human Services, Child Support Services will be housed at this location along with offices for District 1 staff. The office also will serve as a housing navigation services center, in partnership with the Sonoma County Community Development Commission and the City of Sonoma. The Office of Equity also will utilize the space to facilitate community engagement work.
The lease would be for a term of five years, with one five-year option to extend the term with rent payments of $17,597 per month for the 7,332-square-foot office. Move in is anticipated for October after some minor improvements are made.
