Tenant protection town halls Jan. 29 - 30

Sonoma County will host in-person town hall meetings in Santa Rosa on Jan. 29 and in Monte Rio on Jan. 30 to update residents about their tenant protection rights, including new rights recently adopted by the Board of Supervisors.

As of Jan. 1, the rules require landlords to report evictions to the County using a newly created web portal at https://bit.ly/4hfn48V.  

The informational sessions will include Spanish interpretation and feature representatives from Legal Aid of Sonoma County and the Sonoma County Counsel’s office.

Tenant Rights Town Halls:

  • Jan. 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
    Bellevue Elementary School, 3223 Primrose Ave., Santa Rosa
  • Jan. 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
    Monte Rio Community Center, 20488 Highway 116, Monte Rio

Lived Experience Advisory Board now accepting applications

The Sonoma County Lived Experience and Advisory Planning (LEAP) Board is now accepting applications. The board is made up of diverse individuals with lived experience of homelessness, emphasizing racial and ethnic diversity. The board advises the Sonoma County Homeless Coalition and service providers on improving programs, services and housing.

Details:

  • Meets virtually every other Friday, noon-1:30 p.m.
  • A single term is up to 2 years, with a maximum time on the board of 4 years.
  • Four seats are currently open.

Any Sonoma County resident with lived experience of homelessness is encouraged to apply.

Selected candidates will share about themselves at the LEAP Board election meeting on Friday, Feb. 21 at noon.

Small producer virtual workshop on biosecurity Jan. 25

Calling all small flock egg producers and backyard bird enthusiasts for the Egg Safety and Quality Management Program workshop to help small flock producers (fewer than 3,000 birds) ensure safe, wholesome eggs and protect poultry health.

Attend a virtual workshop on Saturday, Jan. 25, 9-10 a.m., to learn about:

  • Biosecurity practices to prevent the spread of poultry diseases
  • Food safety tips for egg production
  • Regulatory requirements and general chicken care.
