Health Policy, Planning and Equity
The Health Policy, Planning and Equity Unit (HPPE) within the Administration Division provides policy, planning, and equity support to the department to improve overall operations and achieve its mission and vision. HPPE supports the department in operationalizing its values of excellence, collaboration, and equity through the use of data driven-practices, performance improvement, collaboration with community partners, and a focus on achieving equitable community health outcomes. HPPE staff work across teams to provide the following core functions:
Internal Planning
- Coordinate strategic planning for the department
- Support project and program planning
- Conduct process and performance improvement activities
Community Planning
- Develop community engagement strategies
- Convene community stakeholders
- Identify community priorities
- Develop and support plans for collective action
Equity
- Develop and implement the Health Equity Action Plan
- Coordinate and support the department’s Equity Circle
- Develop and support Health Equity stakeholder engagement and training strategies
- Monitor state and federal health equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives
Policy & Legislative Affairs
- Conduct policy analysis
- Develop local policy
- Identify items for the legislative platform
- Monitor state and federal legislation
Health Action
Health Action is a framework for community health improvement and health equity that mobilizes community partnerships and resources to focus on key factors that influence health, including health system effectiveness, the built environment, and social determinants such as education and income.
