Western Health Advantage
Western Health Advantage is a not-for-profit HMO with a range of affordable health plans that offer access to an exceptional clinical provider network of highly regarded hospitals, doctors and other health care services throughout Northern California. Members can choose from more than 3,200 doctors and 15 hospitals located across 10 Northern California counties.
Unique to WHA, with Advantage Referral, your Primary Care Physician (PCP) can refer you to one of 2,100 specialists and not just those affiliated with your PCP’s medical group.
Comprehensive plan coverage includes hospitalization, outpatient services, prescriptions, behavioral health, emergency and urgent care, virtual services as well as innovative wellness programs and apps to help you stay healthy.
- Virtual Care – members have the option to consult with a medical professional, obtain prescriptions and access to 24/7 non-emergency care. mywha.org/careoptions
- Behavioral Health Care – members have direct access to behavioral health care (virtual or in-person) without PCP referral. mywha.org/bh
- Emergency Care / Travel Assistance – even when outside WHA’s service area and hospitalized because of an emergency, WHA covers those services. The travel assistance program is available for members traveling away from home. mywha.org/ER mywha.org/travel
- Care for College Students – WHA allows dependent students away from home to continue coverage. Routine care is covered by network provider but student can access virtual care while away. mywha.org/careoptions
- Prescription Benefits - Access to the Mail Order Pharmacy program as well as convenietly located retail pharmacies.
- Acupuncture and Chiropractic Services – up to 20 visits, per member, per calendar year plan – no referral needed – direct access to network providers. mywha.org/cam
